Good food, very welcoming and efficient service, homey local atmosphere, and in a great location. Will come back!
Nice waitress, good recommendations and der food to a reasonable price
Generous portions brimming with flavor. Try it for a weekday lunch. Great crowd.
This was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I'm so satisfied. Owner was amazingly friendly and so was the staff. Food was delicious
So good. We didn’t know what to order so when the owner came by to say hi and see how we were doing, we told him this was out first time to eat Ethiopian. He took our menus and said he would take care of us. We trusted him and were not disappointed.
Love, love, love this place! The staff is kind and caring and they have a gluten free injera bread option! They stay open relatively late and this is 100 percent my go-to spot for Ethiopian food in DC!
It's Ethiopian so know what you are getting into: you will use your hand to eat, including food that is not finger food style with lots of sauces. The waitress was friendly. But the place looked quite dirty and the bread was cold. Lots of Ethiopian looking patrons.
Food was good. Ethiopian honey wine was good too.
First time trying Ethiopian cuisine. Very nice staff and helpful with recommendations. Good food and nice prices.
The food is pretty standard so if you're looking for a more fancy experience go elsewhere. The service was fine though.
Super tasty food and great service! The staff put together a yummy vegan platter for my husband and me. I'd eat here again in a heartbeat!
First time trying Ethiopian food and it was delicious! The atmosphere was pleasant and the food was well priced!
Nice change and plentiful servings
I came here on a weekend for lunch and it was pretty great! We shared the two-person combo platter which had collard greens, yellow lentils, cabbage and carrots, beef, lamb, and chicken/egg. Everything was tasty but the flavors were a bit on the lighter side, and the injera (which came as one big piece per person which was unique) wasn't as sour as usual and I liked that. The food also wasn't super oily which I appreciated (but could also explain why the flavors weren't as strong). Selection was per usual of Ethiopian places. Prices were fair, the two-person combo was $28 pre-tax ($30.80 post-tax) which is about the same as other Ethiopian places. Quite an average Ethiopian place, and the ambiance was alright - the inside had a lot of TV screens with sports and service was average.
The service is very quick and the staff are not pushy, which makes for a relaxing meal. The food is really very good, spicy and delicious. I recommend the Sambusa to start with.
I love Ethiopian food but this wasn’t really what my expectations was the food was cold and no spicy when I asked for spicy she added chilly powder which I couldn’t even eat
Amazing service!!! Amazing food. I don't know they get thier beef so tender!!! The kitfo was perfect! The Tege was perfect! Fast service too!
Not a big fan of Ethiopian food in a restaurant(homecooked is better) so believe me when I say that this place has it right! I think my grandma is in that kitchen 😂
Food is great and the staff are very kind. We had never tried ethiopian food before and the staff set us up with an amazing spread that made us feel right at home. Loved how personal this experience was as I felt like I was eating in their home kitchen.
We went here after a production at Studio Theater. Good food, great price, and we sat outside - we had a great time.
First time having Ethiopian food and the waitstaff was super helpful and patient. When I placed my order, the waitress double-checked with me on my spice preferences and was pleasant all along. In fact, everyone working there was all smiles. I'll be back next time I'm in the area to try a few more menu items.
Great food, great service, and great location. Sat outside on the sidewalk on a Saturday evening... great place to watch people. Awesome date location. We sat there for 3 hours!
So good!! It's a small ex-pat centric place with tables & a bar at the back with a few tvs behind the bar. The vegetarian mixed platter is totally vegan (although there is an option to add fish during Lent) and is very tasty.
Hard for me to go under 5 stars here. Great prices, super friendly (and helpful) staff, and the food was great. Go for the meat & veg combo if you're unsure.
Got a combination platter which included several dishes. Food was amazing tasty and service was very quick and friendly.
Excellent Ethiopian food! (Very hard to make good pictures, with variations of brown on brown).
Awesome food, very laid back, friendly staff, got a table for five with no wait on a Friday night, and extra injera came with our combo platter w/o asking. (Protip: the four-person combo is plenty of food for five people, and has a good mix of meat and veggie options.) Dropped rating one star for the long waits for service (drink refills, check, etc.) after seating but definitely a solid choice for affordable, tasty Ethiopian standards.
The quality of the erhiopian food was excellent, starter and entree. Definitely I will come back
Not the best Ethiopian I’ve ever had but I’m satisfied, it was good.
Best Ethiopian food in the US. I sat at the bar and a regular patron ordered food for me. I ate spicy lamb, with sides of red and yellow lentils, washed down with an Ethiopian beer. If I lived in DC I’d eat there weekly.
Fast service. Friendly staff. Delicious food.
Glo Lalibela Ethiopian Restaurant is a great option for Ethiopian food on the 14th St corridor. They are open everyday and late into the evening. The restaurant is very casual and offers indoor and covered outdoor seating. You'll find all the Ethiopian dishes you'd desire and they are brought out quickly. The food quality and flavor is consistent and as good as any other Ethiopian restaurant I've tried in DC. Staff members are friendly and attentive. Lalibela is a great option for an informal, casual dinner with friends or a late night craving for Ethiopian.
The food is good, great combination specially the combo. They brought more enjera than we ordered, the staff's are friendly. Good I came back!
I'm orginally from Ethiopia and the food was fantastic. I’ve been the new and the previous location multiple times and it never gets old. They have something for everyone, meat eaters and veggies/vegans It came out on a large dish and we enjoyed Negus Ethiopian craft lager beer with it. Would recommend.
So delicious! Friendly staff. Me and a friend shared this meal and was stuffed
Great tasty food. Nice small place. Open late and great for end of evening conversation over a meal
Great food good service friendly staff
Absolutely incredible neighborhood spot. I’ve been enjoying their food for nearly 10 years, first in Logan Circle and now from their location in Shaw. Lalibela made me fall in love with Ethiopian cuisine. There are a lot of great Ethiopian restaurants in DC, but they remain my favorite. I always get the vegetarian platter from the shiro wot to the gomen wot you won’t be disappointed - and absolutely great injera. Wonderful, kind staff and incredible food. Five stars! I’ve never had an unpleasant experience there in 10 years!!!!
Great food and awesome service
The food is wonderful. There are some selections that aren't as common on DC menus. It is a little expensive compared to other area Ethiopian restaurants but the portions are big.
Great food and service. One of the best Ethiopian restaurants in the city. Recommended 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Really delicious! The veggie combo is the way to go.
Great food, service, and atmosphere. One of the most reasonably priced Ethiopian places I've ever been.
Amazing food and customer service! They have Ethiopian wine and beers as well. This place is open late (until 1 am on weekends) which is definitely a plus).
I know this place 10 long year. My favorite dish is Legal Tibs.
Delicious food and fantastic service
Amazing pancake on a plate where all the food is laid out! Strange though the pancake is cold Ethiopian style. Lovely atmosphere!
I started with the beer as i waited my cousin to wash his hands becuase you eat like you are in Ethiopia with bread and your hands. I had the 7 sample plater with all veggies and my cousin who was getting heart brun from all the meats he eat tried it as well not only was he full all 360lbs of him but he felt relaxed from the comfort of the flavors slept really good. The environment is also war. The owner came out to greet me and the ladies that served me were just friendly can't wait to go back to this oasis
I don’t know anything about Ethiopian food but Lalibela is delicious and offers sampler platters so you can get a little bit of everything. The meats are juicy and tender and their veggies are cooked perfectly. All of their sauces and seasonings are flavorful and overall it’s a great bang for your buck.
We love Lalibela! Our go to meal is the platter for four (easily shared by 5). I also appreciate that they take reservations.
